In Latin, the word “stella” means star and this hound shines brightly! Stella has six feline housemates: Mary, Jenny, Buddy, Kalua, Tito, and Batman. Stella is eleven years old and is the dog people want to hug or pet. Her tail is constantly moving with happiness—except when she is sleeping.
Question (Q): Hi Stella! How are you today?
Answer (A): “Great, except our chat is making me miss a cat nap. Don’t worry, I’ll take a power nap after lunch. Would you mind rubbing my ears while we talk?”

Q: How long have you lived with your people, Bill, and Linda?
A: “Bill adopted me about 5 years ago. I had lived with a family for six years, but they surrendered me to the “Every Dog’s Dream” rescue. Mike, the dad, said I played with the kids too much. Really? No love lost between us. I loved those kids.”
Q: How was life at the rescue?
A: “Depressing. I didn’t even want to eat. I just kept looking for an exit. Bill and Linda volunteered at the rescue and knew I needed to get out of there. I went home with Bill, and it started my new life. He had another dog also—and old girl Abby who I never got along with well.”
Q: And now?
“Abby passed and I was the queen of the castle for almost two years. Then, someone found Mary the cat and two of her kittens—Bill and Linda saved them also…… Then the rescue had four sick kittens that needed exceptional care. Foster cats became mine.”

Q: Do you like dogs or cats better and why?
“I’ll take cats any day of the week! First, they don’t eat my dog bones. They groom me sometimes-that’s like a spa treatment. Love that purring sound also, it puts me right to sleep. Now I am top dog here-no competition. Whenever I move, I have an escort of cats. I feel special, total acceptance.”

Q: Any hobbies?
A: “I love eating, treats, ear rubs, rides in the car. Did I mention I like all food including human food and cat food? I am the only pet to sleep with humans at night. I enjoy watching birds at the feeder on the deck. I have acres of land to roam in at home. Life is good! (The day I destroyed a door wasn’t so great. Linda and Bill have forgiven me and still love me.”
